Today, we are going to talk about the difference between compliance vs. commitment.
What do you think the difference between compliance and commitment?
According to Webster’s, compliance is you are inclined to agree with others or obey their rules.
Commitment is the state or quality being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.
Why am I bringing this up?
I am coaching a group of women and it is pretty funny because I find that a lot of people are compliant. They are following rules of a certain program aka diet or a lifestyle change.
They are not really fully committed. They are following the rules and going through the motions, but they are looking forward to that time being finished.
They are white-knuckling it until they actually achieve the goal they set for themselves.
So, they are just going along with the flow, but maybe not necessarily because they want to, but because they feel that they have to.
Commitment conversely is, in my opinion, when you understand why you are doing something, you understand why all of these rules exist, and that you realize that they are for the betterment for yourself long term.
You are not white-knuckling it each day because you realize that this is for your greater good, and you are committed to yourself, committed to the plan and the program tp become the best you possible.
That’s my definition of compliance vs. commitment.
My goal is to always my clients become the best version of themselves possible and be committed to that lifestyle change.
It is never a quick fix. It is always a lifestyle change to help you have long lasting results.
Are you compliant to somebody else’s rules because you feel like you have to be?
Or are you committed because you want to be?
I would love to work with you and help you become the best version of yourself possible!
