Yesterday was Easter which has got to be my favorite holidays! We get to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection with a wonderful church service, eat Sees chocolate eggs or bunnies, dye eggs (unless you have chickens like me who shoot out colored eggs everyday), and enjoy a great meal with our family. We don’t need the stress of buying gifts, over decorating, or mailing cards. We just enjoy the simplicity of being together! And since Baki (my mother in law) cooks most of the dinner, I even love it more! And I just LOVE jelly beans!
It is so interesting how many of the Easter symbols relate to the death and resurrection of our Savior and why this is one of the greatest days for a Christian. The egg represents the tomb where Jesus arose out of. The cross is
where he died. The lamb (did you see my video last week?) Jesus is the lamb of God, the final sacrifice for our sins. The lily represents spring and immortality. Not exactly sure how the bunny fits in!
Easter is such a big deal that Oakridge and Valley Fair malls were both closed. Target was closed so their employees could be home with their families. Easter marks the largest day for church attendance in the whole calendar year. Many people praise the Lord on Easter, so let’s not forget about Him the rest of the year!
Last year our church didn’t sing my favorite Easter song, so I was so excited when they closed the service with this praise song yesterday! As I sang, as if I was blessed with a voice, I decided to tape it. However, I stopped half way so I can cherish the moment and really worship! Then, after listening to it, decided here is NO WAY I am publishing it. Search up a better version to really hear the song. It’s called Alive Forever Amen!!!!
Love love love Sees chocolate buttercream eggs with walnuts, jelly beans, church songs, my own chicken’s naturally colored eggs…… What’s your favorite Easter tradition?
