Meet Kelly-Jane

Kelly-Jane is from Rotterdam, Holland.

Kelly-Jane has been on the keto diet since January 2018 and lost 63 pounds. She loves the benefits of Keto, and will probably be doing this for the rest of her life.

ABOUT KELLY-JANE

  • I am from Holland
  • I am 31 years old
  • I work full-time and live alone with my lovely cat
  • I started the Keto diet last January
  • I started Keto when me and friends were talking about losing weight as a New Year’s resolution
  • My friend started Keto ahead of me and she did not seem to keep it together, so she asked me if I want to do it with her and I thought that this could work because I can eat bacon and cheese
  • I love bacon and cheese
  • Every diet I have done was cutting out fat
  • Mostly when I start a diet, in the past,  I am like, “okay, no more cheese, no more butter, no more bacon or anything.” And just dry toast with a leaf of lettuce
  • I downloaded MyFitnessPal and look up what my calorie intakes should be
  • Everything I ate, I just put it in my MyFitnessPal and it helps me a lot and it really works for me
  • I started 105 kilo and lost 29 kilo in less than a year
  • People don’t recognize me sometimes
  • In Holland, we only do net carbs since we do not count the fiber
  • Every time you look at a package, they cut out the fiber already
  • In Holland we eat cheese a lot
  • I don’t eat a lot of sweet things even sweeteners
  • I just keep the greens and the proteins
  • Once in a while, I get a craving and luckily my friend who is in Keto bakes amazing cookies, but I try to stay away from them
  • I love making pasta without the pasta. Like a lasagna with a zucchini
  • I love duck because it’s really fatty meat and I love the taste of it

 

OTHER HEALTH BENEFITS FROM KETO

  • I have gained a lot of energy
  • After 3 or 4 weeks of I starting the diet, I really wanted to workout and it’s pretty new for me
  • I started swimming a lot and it helped me a lot in losing more weight
  • Also, my skin cleared, no more zits

TOUGH SPOTS

  • I went to a musical festival and they only had carbs
  • And I told myself that after the music festival, I will just go back on Keto and everything will be good again, but it was like a month that I kept making excuses to eat other stuff and I really had to kick myself in the butt
  • It was like a month of off and on with Keto
  • Once you start eating carbs, you get addicted to sugar again
  • I used to have headaches if I hadn’t had sugar for a few hours or so, and that’s why I can tell that sugar is addictive
  • I have people telling me that I will have a heart attack sooner because I eat all of this fat and it will get around my heart and liver, but I don’t think so

ADVICE

  • Do your research
  • I researched the pros and the cons of Keto because I want to be prepared
  • I want to get what to get myself in to and what are the things that I should look out to – like the keto flu
  • With me, it was not that heavy, but I was cranky for 2 or 3 days
  • If possible, find a buddy to do it with
  • If I am hungry for cookies, then there’s my friend to tell me that I should not eat it and if she want to get some cheesecake then I’ll be the one to tell her to not do it
  • Communities on the internet helps a lot if you want to get some more knowledge

FAVORITE RECIPE

  • It’s just a chicken thigh
  • You smashed it so it’s flattened, put a little bit of cream cheese on it, roll it up, put a little bit of bacon and fry it up

 

FAVORITE QUOTE

  • I just tell myself, “Look at the end goal. If you can eat the cream cheese right now, but if you want to stay healthy kick off the sugar. Don’t do it.”
  • Just don’t try to do the sweet even the Keto sweets. Just for the first month, try to keep out from sweets

HOW CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU?

  • I do intermittent fasting
  • I start eating at lunch around 1:00 P.M. and my last meal is around 8:00 P.M. or 9:00 P.M

 

KELLY-JANE’S FAVORITE RECIPE

For the chicken:

Slice a chicken breast, do you get 2 thinner slices. Hammer it, so it gets even thinner. Spread cream cheese on the chicken and if you like some herbs. Roll it up and wrap the chicken in bacon strips. Put a bit (or a lot) of butter in a pan and fry until chicken isnt raw.

 

For the duck:

Cut diagonally in the skin of the duck breast, so it wont curl up when you fry it. Put it in a pan skin up for 2 minutes. Then on skin side fry it for 7 to 8 minutes. After that place it on tin foil, put some garlic butter on it, wrap it up and let it rest for 10 to 15 minute.
