#51 KD – Lost 35 lbs on Keto

Meet K.D.

My name is KD!

I’m a hairdresser, wife, and mother who recently lost 35lbs following a ketogenic lifestyle. That’s right, I’m just a regular mom who was over weight and tried every diet plan and weight loss challenge out there. After the birth of my daughter in 2017, I was dealing with PPD and anxiety. I was also unhappy with my weight, which seemed to make things worse. 

It took me months of talking myself in and out of starting keto. I joined all the Facebook groups and stalked plenty of Instagram pages. Once I changed my mind set, I threw all the excuses out the window, I hit the ground running.  One thing I want everybody to understand is mind set is the KEY to succeed in anything. When we let ourselves think were not capable of being a certain way, your mind will start to believe it. Its time to start telling your mind different!

I’ve learned that weightloss goes deeper than you
think…Its not just about fitting in those sexy jeans, its about self care and self love first! With my personal experience in weightloss, I tried to lose weight to impress or for the “revenge body” but ended up gaining back every pound. Love who you are, mind and soul first and the rest will align. 

I love Keto because I have a whole new relationship with food. This is the only lifestyle and corrects the sugar cravings. I don’t fiend for dessert anymore or get the afternoon crash during work. I’m FREE from being a slave to sugar!

  • I am from Long beach, California
  • I am a  hairdresser, mother to a 1-year old daughter and a wife as well
  • I am just a normal person who lost 35 lbs following a Ketogenic way of eating
  • Through my 20’s, I was a little bit of a party girl
  • Drank a little too much beer, ate a little fast-food and it definitely caught up with me
  • It was not after the birth of my daughter, when I was 26 or 27, and I wanted to lose weight so I can enter my 30’s on a good foot
  • So, intro – Keto
  • I definitely just dove in to all the research. I listened to every podcast, including yours
  • Your podcast was the first podcast I really just binge listened to every episode
  • Youtube, Facebook and Instagram.
  • There are so many resources now for Keto that it is just so easy to start
  • I went to start Keto around the holidays
  • I cut out the bread and made it through the holidays
  • I counted my macros for 3 months, and once I got the hang of it, I started not to be obsessed in counting my macros
  • For me, the Ketogenic diet is a lifestyle and I did not have the room to count my macros, especially with a 1-year old
  • When I get stalls, I just go back to the basics, and  start counting macros

 

FAVORITE THING ABOUT KETO

  • Myfavorite thing about Keto is it really controlled my cravings
  • I have tried every weight loss challenge and sometimes it does work for other people, but it definitely did not work for me
  • It did not correct the emotional habits that I had
  • I really changed my mindset on everything and threw all the excuses out of the window, that’s when things really started for me
  • I think it is all about mindset
  • The one thing is very important for me is loving myself first and things will align after that
  • Weight loss is almost like a spiritual experience for me
  • Just say your affirmations every morning, because once you believe, you are going to start doing it
  • Currently, I am counting net carbs because I am only 7 months into my weight loss journey now
  • I think when I’ll hit my Keto anniversary, I’ll start counting the total carbs just to see the difference
  • Yes, I am at my goal and I surpassed it
  • I lost a total of 35 lbs
  • Right now, I weigh 127 lbs

 

TOUGH SPOTS

  • When it was my birthday, I decided to have a cheat and jumped right back into keto the next day
  • I don’t think I had too much of a hard time. I was just dealing with cravings and talking myself out of them

 

ADVICE

  • I would say, throw the excuses out of the window and just start now
  • Give yourself 6 months and see how you feel
  • All of my inflammation has gone down
  • I have TMJ symptoms and that went away
  • I had bumps at the back of my arms because of the gluten, dairy and wheat and it went away
  • Just start now and do some research
  • It went away after 3 months and I was shocked because they were there all my life
  • It really helped me find what is really right for my body
  • I now realize that almonds and peanuts don’t really sit well on my stomach
  • I totally took out nuts and dairy
  • The first 6 months, I did not workout at all
  • So, I was amazed how much weight I lost without working out
  • Now, I have joined fit for moms and they have locations all around the United States
  • I have been working out with a bunch of moms
  • I feel like the water retention has gotten a lot better
  • My waist feels smaller
  • And I can run after my daughter
  • My energy is up all the time
  • I am so basic with my Keto calories
  • I just stick with salmon and broccoli with butter on top
  • I pan fry my salmon

  • Every time I meditate, I always say, “I am going to be on the Be Well, Be Keto. I am going to hit my goal weight and be on her show.”

 

  • I have always tried to lose weight for a revenge body
  • I then told myself that I am going to do this for myself, because I love myself, and I have enough respect for myself to give my body what it needs for fuel
  • Once I changed my mindset, the weight flew off
  • Keto is not only for weight loss. It is all about healing your body
  • And people forget about that and compare their weight loss to others and you can’t do that because there’s so much healing before the weight loss happens

  • I am manifesting this right now because I want to go farther with this and help women get where they want to be, spiritually and health wise too
  • Definitely looking into nutrition, like a health and life coach especially for younger women and new moms
