Can you tell which of these eggs is from our backyard chickens and which is from the grocery store?
The answer is obvious, at least to me when looking into the bowl. The store bought egg yolk was very dull in comparison and this picture just doesn’t show the difference, thanks to the flash. Also check out the egg white….very cloudy compared to the clear whites of our backyard chickens.
So how do they taste? Rich, delicious and guilt free…which is always a good thing!
According to Mother Earth News “Backyard eggs have approximately 25 percent more vitamin E, 75 percent more beta carotene, and as much as 20 times the amount of omega-3 fatty acids as do factory farmed eggs. Oh — and for everyone who’s ever said eggs are riddled with cholesterol — backyard eggs contain only about half as much cholesterol as factory farmed eggs.”
Apparently, the health benefits are catching on and even Costco is selling mini chicken coops that are perfect for your own mini urban brood!
Have you ever tried a egg from a backyard chicken?
