Welcome to another episode of Salad and Wine.
Today you are in for a treat!
We are going to do a Massaged Kale Salad.
Now, we know that kale is a superfood but you never ever want to overeat a superfood. Even if you have it like kale, we know is good but too much kale is not good. It’s just like the law of diminishing returns with your cardio routine.
I went to Trader Joe’s and got kale. If you buy just regular kale, what you do is hold the stalk and by the stem, and then it pulls the stem out.
That’s one of the things to cleaning kale. You want to get the tough stems out.
Then the next step, what you’re gonna do is you are going to thinly slice them real nice and thin. Take a really sharp knife and you thinly slice it.
I’m just gonna chop slice one direction just to kind of thin it out to make sure that I do not have any stems in the kale.
The next step, get a high-quality extra virgin olive oil this one is an orange-flavored one. You can use a lemon one if you prefer but I like this. I am just going to drizzle some on the top.
Now, it’s time to get your fingers dirty.
You are going to massage the kale and as you massage the kale it gets softer and finer and easier to eat and enjoy in your salad. So, we massage the kale so it looks like that it shrunk in the bowl.
Next, we’re gonna do is add a little bit of salt. I am really into this Grey’s Celtic sea salt right now because it’s good to rotate your foods, rotate your salts.
Then, a tablespoon of sprouted pumpkin seeds. Try to always eat sprouted seeds and nuts they’re better for you.
Next, half of an avocado. I put avocado in everything because it’s so good for you.
Next up, we take a quarter cup blackberries organic blackberries. Take the blackberries and scatter them.
And, last but not least, we take a half of a lemon and you just squeeze it around and it’s going to help the avocado from turning brown and it will give acid for the salad dressing.
This is a very nutrient-dense salad. You have the kale which is really good for you, sprouted pumpkin seeds blackberries and avocado. How can you beat that?
A super delicious and super simple salad.
Bon Appetit! 🥂
