How To Break Bad Habits (and create good ones)

Do you want to break your bad habits and create good ones that stick? That’s the question I am going to answer in today’s video. We can build new and good habits by simply crowding out the crap!

Forming good habits can sometimes be hard, but we need to stop and break the old ones to have a better, happier, and healthier life.

The first concept I want to share with you is called crowding out the crap. And that means that you add in so many good habits that you crowd out the bad ones.s

How does that look?
Let’s talk about snacking.

Oftentimes we snack either because we’re hungry or maybe we’re just not being mindful and we’re bored. In order to alleviate the first one, what you want to do is make sure you’re hydrated.

Drinking lots of water has so many health benefits but it also will fill your tummy so you will be less prone to snacking because you’ll just be all filled up.

Crowd out the snacking urge by filling your body with all those good things the water or any other hydrating beverage such as
herbal tea, sparkling water, or infused water.

The other reason people snack is because they just become bored or mindless. The focus there actually will help you with so many areas of your life by just being more mindful, and if you’re bored find some non-food activity that will fill your time, perhaps it’s taking a walk, reading a book, calling a friend, going out and doing some retail therapy at t.j.maxx is always a good option. LOL!

Another good habit is exercising. If you don’t move it, you will lose it.
As you get older you lose muscle, it’s just a natural thing. However, you can prevent that sarcopenia which is muscle wasting or tissue wasting by moving it and by exercising.

Many times people say that they can’t find the time to exercise. My advice? Just get up 30 minutes earlier and get going in the morning before any excuses.

Another healthy habit is sleeping. You need sleep and it is underrated in our society because often people are worried about their Netflix playlist or their chores and a to-do list that they don’t take the time to sleep, but did you know how many
health benefits sleep has? It actually helps repair your tissues and it helps human growth hormone secretion which is a fountain of youth.

It’s really important to get plenty of good sleep.

By adding one new habit every week or two, you will layer them one at a time and they become new rituals and the goal
is to keep moving forward and you just do them without thinking about it.

My favorite healthy habits are:

  • Make sure you get adequate sleep
  • Hydrate
  • Eat healthy foods that are low carbohydrate healthy foods and high micronutrient levels
  • Read 10 pages a day
  • Exercise and move every day
  • Be outside and get your sunshine
  • Make sure you’re living on purpose and living in your passion and having a job that inspires you, that makes you
    happy, that lights you up
  • Community service
  • Gratitude
  • Affirmations
  • Reading your vision

Those are all wonderful habits that by adding into your life you will crowd out all the negative stuff that brings you down and leads you to make poor choices.
