Healthy Holiday Tips – Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

So, we all know that everyone tends to gain a bunch of weight over the holidays and then what happens is, it takes us five months to get back to that break-even point. Who wants that?

But what if there was a way that you could actually be healthy over the holidays, not gain weight, maybe whittle away your waist just a little bit and still have a fantastic time?

We’re going to talk about my top 5 tips so we want to keep our diet really clean during the week so that we can save up for our weekend holiday celebration parties.

How are we going to do this?

Tip number one:

Keep your diet clean during the week and that way you can save up for that holiday celebration. What does clean look like? Well, for me it means intermittent fasting.

So, you will not be eating breakfast. I skip breakfast everyday pretty much and I just save up my macros for lunch and dinner. Also, keeping it really low carb so that my body can eat my belly fat instead of the food it’s bringing in.

You guys know about the ketogenic diet. You’ve watched my videos before and I’msure you understand that but if not letme know and I’ll be sure to giveyou some resources for you to examine that.

The day of the holiday party do some HIIT cardio to get that metabolism spiked, so that it can carry you and you can be burning more calories all throughout the day.

Tip number two:

Don’t eat all day. Do the fasting trick – one meal a day so, you can save up all your wonderful macros for the party itself. A lot of people say, “Oh eat a nice healthy meal before you go the party” well I’m like, “why would you do that?”

When you go to a party, you’re not eating the treats at the party because you’re hungry you’re eating them because your eyes are hungry and they’re going to be hungrywhether you eat before the party or not, so I say save all your calories so that

you can really enjoy the party’s food.

Tip number three:

Hydrate. Drink a ton of water so that your body is flushing away toxins and it is hydrated and so it fills up your stomach. I love being hydrated, and with that tip in mind, if you’re going to enjoy a holiday beverage, make sure that you alternate water with your cocktails.

So, if you have a glass of wine, in between fill it with some water because sometimes you just like to have that pretty wine glass in your hand to give your hand something to do and if you fill it with water then you’re going to be hydrating and avoiding getting too much alcohol in your body.

Also choosing wonderful things like French wine, champagne or something else that’s not going to be high sugar or high carb is really going to help you avoid those blood sugar swings.

Tip number four:

Eat low carb foods while you’re there. Fill your plate with lots of veggies and some good protein – good quality protein because you’re going to need to fuel your body with your workout anyhow.

Just eat clean and eat low carb, that way you’re not spiking that blood sugar, getting the insulin spike and then storing that extra insulin that fat around your waist. WE DON’T WANT THAT.

But let yourself enjoy one treat and then walk away from the food table.

Maybe you like to have a dessert or maybe you like to have a carb that you don’t normally have and it’s not about sacrificing all through the holidays just have fun but

just don’t overdo.

Tip number five:

On the next day, do a little 24-hour cleanse.

Do your usual get up in the morning, do a HIIT workout and having lots of water, some bone broth or maybe a protein shake. Just really clean healthy protein shakes and just let your digestive system rest.

You can also do more detoxing with detox tea, some dry brushing and at the end of the day do a nice hot Epsom salt or magnesium. Just detox that party out of you and then go on and eat clean and healthy all week looking forward to your next celebration.

I hope you enjoyed those tips please let me know which ones below you are going to take to your holiday party!
