SHOW NOTES:
ABOUT DEBBIE
It started when I was in my 20’s
It was always the calorie restriction
My college roommate was eating a ton of food and going to the bathroom
It turns out, she was bulimic and I thought it was the greatest idea
And I literally taught myself to be bulimic in my 20’s
And at 50’s, I am still suffering from it
Mostly, it was calorie restriction and binging because I was starving all the time
I was on Facebook, and first I saw the bulletproof coffee and I thought it was like Atkins because I was doing Atkins before
I thought I was fasting with my big bulletproof coffee and I would not eat in the afternoon
And I realized that I was not fasting because I have all this fat in my body
So, that led to just researching and diving into the world of fasting
I started fasting first and listening to Jimmy’s podcast
And I told myself that I need Keto and need to cut the sugar out
So, I fasted before I even started Keto
Basically, I started with just fasting until dinner
I was eating whole foods, but not a Keto dinner
The more I started listening to podcast, I realized I need to do the Ketogenic diet
I just cut out all carbs and it made all the difference
It was hard, and it was not long that I discovered Keto after the fasting
The fasting all day made me realize that eating 3 to 6 meals is not good
After discovering Keto, I can fast for 3 days and 7 days the longer
I noticed my eating disorder was going away
I was no longer binging and I thought that it was unbelievable
In the beginning, I would make a bulletproof coffee with just a teaspoon of heavy whipping cream
Now, I allow myself water in the morning, or black tea and I have my light bulletproof in the afternoon
I break my fast with my bulletproof coffee
Now, I don’t go to the gym
I have a little workout room in my basement
I have been doing a HIIT workout and Tennis
My goal is heavy lifting because I want more muscle and I want body composition change
I am trying really hard to start lifting weight, but for some reasons that’s my least favorite thing to do
I was pretty OMAD (one meal a day) for a while
One day a week, I try to throw protein in. The thermic effect of protein boosts your metabolism
On a day to day basis, I am OMAD
I break my fast with my coffee because I am always craving something hot
I always concentrate on what protein I am going to put on the plate first
It could be chicken wings that I made in the air fryer or hamburgers
I am mostly carnivore
For me, being in my 50’s I can eat 1 gram per my lean body mass
I am getting between 80 up to 100 grams
In the past 2 years starting Keto, I have lost 3 pounds
In person, everything fit better
I love the way I look now
The only thing I don’t like is right above my knees
Small upper body, but I have a runner legs
Beyond weight loss, food freedom, no more binging, no more purging and no more disorder eating, I had an essential tremor
It was affecting me as a physician’s assistant
The tremor has diminished to almost unnoticeable
Joint pain is gone also
I can’t imagine not being Keto
TOUGH SPOTS
I started June of 2017
Just in the beginning, I would crave the popcorn or rice
I over ate fats
The keto flu is real and because I started fasting first, I would say 2 and half teaspoon of salt measured out in the beginning is crucial
Small little craving here and there, and constipation
I think my body longed for Keto
I was on Atkin on 1996, I will never forget because my son was born
I want to lose the baby weight and somebody told me to try this diet where I can eat burgers and bacon
I went on it, and the weight just literally melt off
When I started Keto, it reminded me so much of Atkins and I knew that is going to be the right way
I just did not have an ill effect of it
