Breathing Techniques for Stress

We are going to talk about breathing techniques for stress, energy, relaxation and cleansing.

Way number one:
What you’re going to do is when you get up in the morning you want to energize.

What you’re going to do is you’re going to do energizing breaths.
You’re going to inhale and exhale.

Tony Robbins talks about changing your state that will change your state before you even have a cup of coffee.

Way number two:
Do some stress breaths.

Maybe first thing in the morning you get to work and something happens and you are in stress mode.

So, what we like to do is we need to calm ourselves.

What I want you to do is imagine an ocean wave and they’re rolling. The ocean waves rolling so your breath is going to be a rolling breath. You’re going to see a very smooth transition from the inhale to the exhale.

Because I teach Pilates, we do a lot of Pilates breathing. So, you want to make sure you’re expanding your belly. I know we spend half the day sucking it in but on this instance you are going to be expanding it.

So one hand on your belly, one hand on your chest and imagine your breath is like a wheel.

What I want you to imagine is you inhale through your nose, tongue is touching the roof of your mouth right between the teeth and the gum line and then you’re going to contract your pelvic floor. That is where you start and stop your urine in your body. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go to the bathroom and midstream make it stop and then on the exhale you’re going to blow like through a straw.

That’s how that one works.

Way number three:
What we’re going to do with breathing is the cleansing breath.

So you’re going to inhale and inhale more and inhale more and inhale more. Fill your lungs with air and then you’re going to hold it just for are a few counts until you can’t hold it any longer, then you’re going to exhale slowly through the straw and exhale more and more and more like you are ringing your lungs out with like a wet rag.

You’re going to exhale more and more and more until you cannot exhale any more. That is cleansing.

You’re getting all those toxins and everything out of your body. That is a very good cleansing breath.

You’re going to just stretch out your lungs and then squeeze everything out squeeze all the toxins out.

Way number four:
We’re going to talk about a way to actually increase your lung capacity, increase your wellness and get your head into a really nice Zen zone.

You’re going to start with ten.

I learned this from my friend Wade at biOptimizers and that’s where I get my awesome probiotics and enzymes.

This technique I learned from somebody else.

We all learn everything from somebody else, those other ones I’m just known for a long time probably from yoga and Pilates so I don’t recall exactly how I learned them.

Your ultimate goal is 30 right but from now we’re going to start with 10.

So, it’s 10 inhale, 10 hold, 10 exhale and 10 hold again. It’s back to the wheel motion.

You’re going to be expanding your lung capacity and you’re also going to be exhaling for a longer period of time. You release more toxins and holding the air. Holding that actually helps with your lungs.

That will actually put you in another state especially if you do that at the end of the day. Imagine how awesomely relaxed you be for bed.
