Today begins the chronicling of my 12 week mission to get bikini ready and it all begins in my sweaty palace at Morgan Hill Bikram Yoga! When my instructor said that Sweat is Your Fat Crying, I was like, OK bring it on!
MHBY is my happy place, but it certainly has NOT always been! The first day I went to Bikram Yoga, I was so afraid that I might barf or pass out, so I planted my mat right by the door in case I needed a quick escape! However, Wendy said to come every day for a week and I will be hooked. After about a year of practice, I can confirm that yes, I am addicted to the sweaty cleansing feeling it brings. Even though, I look dreadful after a class, I feel amazing!
After a class of Bikram yoga, I feel cleansed and refreshed. Every single surface of my body is dripping sweat. I know this sounds gross, but it is actually awesome. Understanding the health benefits to my organs, joints, and muscles deepens my commitment to my practice and excites me of the possibility of aging gracefully. Since I spent many years running and beating up my body, at the age of 47, it is time to think about long term good health and Bikram Yoga is a mandatory part of my Health Adventure!
