How Insulin Works: Insulin Resistance & Weight Gain

Are you struggling in losing weight? Well, don’t worry! You may be doing everything right, but your hormones could be the culprit. Your hormones can affect your weight loss journey.

In this video, we are going to talk about the hormone that regulates blood sugar in your body, insulin.

But when you think about hormones, you think about the basics – estrogen, progesterone, testosterone.

But there are so many more that affects our hormones like insulin which is our fat-storage hormone, glucagon which is our fat releasing hormone, cortisol which is the stress hormone that storesfat, and then we have leptin that tells you when you’re full, and ghrelin which is the hunger hormone, endorphins which are the happiness hormones, oxytocin which is the pleasure hormone and then we have the human growth hormone which is the fountain of youth.

And today, we are going to talk about Insulin.

Every time you eat carbohydrate or simple sugar, your blood sugar rises then your pancreas goes on alert and will secrete insulin to grab a hold of that glucose and drive it into the cell to use it as energy.

Over time, we become insulin resistant which means that a little bit is not enough anymore and that we need more and more.

Guess what happens with your excess insulin? It gets stored around your waist!

Did you notice that with age? That’s because of the excess insulin.

So focus on not spiking your sugar.
