We’re going to talk all about Exogenous Ketones, and why after four and a half years I’m finally convinced that this is a healthy part of my new anti-aging lifestyle.
I have known about exogenous ketones for a very long time and I always kind of poo-pooed them and said, “why would we need to take exogenous ketones when our body can make ketones for us?” And I thought it was just an expensive drink, and I didn’t see the value in it and then I read this amazing book the Ketogenic Bible that is like a textbook and I have had it for over a year and it intimidated me because it’s literally like science upon science.
Every chapter has about 100 or more references and it just kind of made my head spin when I started reading it but then I committed to doing 10 pages a day and I finally finished it.
Why did I decide that exogenous ketones were actually really important?
I’m going to do a brief little summary through this book of why.
On page 36, they talk about how it improves insulin sensitivity and we know that type 2 diabetes is a really big problem and they’re expecting half to a third of our children today to actually get it and it begins with insulin sensitivity.
Exogenous ketones help improve insulin sensitivity.
On page 95, it talks about how it helps with Parkinson’s disease, and on page 104 it talks about how it helps impaired brain energy metabolism.
My mother has Alzheimer’s disease and so, one of my big things is preventing Alzheimer’s
I’ve been on a ketogenic diet for four and a half years, however, anything I can improve when it comes to Alzheimer’s and cancer because my genes are stacked against me, I am definitely going to add that to my life.
On page 105, they talk about Dr. Mary Newport’s story because her husband steve has Alzheimer’s and she says that when she bumped his ketones to 28.7 grams a day, it increased his ability to shower, shave, order from a menu and put things away.
These are things he had difficulty doing prior to and it also improved his energy and level of happiness.
Let’s face it, everything we do or don’t do is all going to contribute to our happiness, so that impressed me a ton.
On page 107, it talks about traumatic brain injury and how ketones help feed the brain and we know that it that with traumatic brain injury, they need glucose but it shuts off their body’s ability to utilize glucose and so ketones provide an alternative fuel source.
On page 130, there are all kinds of stuff about cancer.
My dad had cancer five different times and he passed in February which was really sad and his cancer doctor didn’t educate him on nutritional approaches.
On the other hand, what they did was, they gave him cookies and candy while he was in chemo and his doctor told him that it doesn’t matter what you eat and I was shivering when I heard this – it was awful.
On page 130, there is a lot of stuff. Iit talks about how it will lower cancer cell growth and that even in the presence of glucose brain cancer cells live shorter with ketone supplementation.
How metastatic cancer the ketone supplements will slow tumor growth and the mice lived 60 percent longer than the control group.
How it increases antioxidant capacity which is important for fighting the free radicals which contribute to cancer.
It improves the survival rate by four times it increases or decreases lysophospholipids so less tumor growth or tumor spreading.
It induces apoptosis which is programmed cell death so that damaged and old cells will die off.
It improves red blood cell circulation, it improves red blood cell production and increases ROS which is reactive oxygen species and triggers DNA repair.
And it tastes amazing too!
If you keep going, on page 156, it talks about autism, 158 is depression and anxiety, 159bipolar disorder, 160 migraines, and headaches, on page 165 it may benefit ADHD and 169 talks about wound healing which is a big deal.
It helps boost cell growth and reduces inflammation.
I was really intrigued and I just can’t believe all this and how wrong I was, so then I went anon youtube and I found a couple of youtube videos that Dr. Ryan Lowry did which are more science which made me be more convinced and then I went on his website ketogenic.com/ketones and I saw all of the amazing research we’re talking study after study after study.
So, I order some ketones for myself, I ordered some from my mom with Alzheimer’s, my mother-in-law who’s 85 and she just always wants to kick ass at everything to anything she can to help herself have more energy and feel better – she’s all in, and then my husband who is 61 he is burrito boy he is not eating ketogenic either but I want him to feel better and have all of the different health benefits that come along with exogenous ketones.
I hope that by hearing all of that you will be motivated to buy the book, The Ketogenic Bible and read it, understand it and decide that you also want to add exogenous ketones to your lifestyle.
I will have a link below the video so that you can order some exogenous ketones try them out for yourself.
You can either do a 60-hour reboot which is like a little modified fast or you can just do the 10-day challenge and commit to drinking ketones for 10 days to see how you feel.
Some of the big tips that I’m feeling already are fat loss, more energy, better sleep, and improved focus.
