#127 Tracee Talks – Healthier Home

We are going to talk about how to create a healthy home. This was inspired by a lecture that I saw several years ago by Dr. Myron Wentz based on his book, “The Healthy Home.”

You see, Healthy cells create healthy bodies. Degenerated and deficient cells will produce a diseased body. This presentation shouldn’t scare you because every single danger has at least one solution and you can pick and choose what solution you want to implement first.

We cannot live in a bubble. Our bodies are miraculous and they can handle some dangers. But knowledge is power, so choose wisely.

Half of the people we know over 50 are struggling with degenerative diseases. Our children are growing up in a much more toxic world and will be facing even more degenerative diseases than we did.

There are many different hidden dangers and we need to be aware of them because nobody is going to tell you about this stuff.

Our environment is not just the mountains and the oceans, it is our home and we spend most of our hours in our day at our home so this is the environment that we have control. Outside, there are warning signs of environmental toxicity. Inside your home, they are not so visible!

A 10 to 20% reduction in toxic load, day after day, year after year will add up and make a huge difference. We can avoid gallons of toxins by being aware and making better decisions. If you lower your toxic burden, your body can take care of you for decades.

Let’s start with your bathroom.
What is inside of it? What does it look like?

A lot of people are self-medicating, and the scary part is all of us are already exposed to antibiotics in meat, tap water, and dairy products. There are millions of lbs. of antibiotics put into animals and then we eat those foods and the antibiotics get into our body.

When you actually have an infection that needs an antibiotic, you may be resistant and it won’t be as effective. So, you want to be careful with what you eat and don’t over-medicate.

For example: We eat too much, no prob, take an antacid. Drink too much, to prevent a headache, take a painkiller. Feel a cold, go to the doctor and get an antibiotic – even though antibiotic does not work on colds. Stressed out, neck pain, another pain killer.

We need to address what is causing these problems, not simply mask the symptom.

For Oral Health.
Gum disease is directly related to heart disease, so you must care for your mouth.

Fluoride is also a hidden danger; read your toothpaste label. It says, “if more than a pea-sized amount is swallowed, contact poison control immediately.” And yet, we put this in our mouth every day. How ironic, right?

Fluoride pits teeth harden enamel, hardens bones, can make structures brittle. We certainly don’t want brittle bones.

For strong teeth, take calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D.

Another danger is mercury. The ADA says if you take mercury, the most natural toxic substance on earth, mix it with silver and tin, and copper, to make solid that it’s no longer toxic and we can put it in our mouths and it won’t produce a problem.

The mercury would cause neurological disease. It attacks the fatty tissue in the brain; it causes Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Advice: If you have silver fillings, don’t chew gum or ice, avoid hot liquids, and never brush teeth dry. Just get them removed. Don’t go to a dentist who uses mercury fillings because they don’t understand the problems with mercury.

Personal Care Products.
How many products do you think you use every day? Well, 10-15 is average.

The danger is these products can have preservatives, parabens or formaldehyde-releasing agents. They are dangerous. Think about the estrogen patch or the nicotine patch. These chemicals go straight to your bloodstream, and they are other endocrine disruptors.

There is a “maximum safe level” that a manufacturer can use when blending a toxic product into your beauty products. But multiply that by how many products you use in a day….and you are well over the safety zone.

These are known as gender benders and girls get to puberty at younger and younger ages. They have been implicated in diseases. These xenoestrogens are the greatest causes of hormone-dependent tumors, breast and prostate cancer.

Also, Don’t use aerosols and breathe in these chemicals.

“Your skin absorbs these products just as if you were drinking them.” Your skin is your largest organ.

Bedroom.
Sleep is critical for health. It’s not just about being tired, there are other things linked to lack of sleep.

These are linked to lack of sleep (lack of melatonin production): prostate cancer, high blood pressure, breast cancer, Parkinson’s, cardiovascular disease, obesity.

Sleep is critical for good health and melatonin is a part of that process.

Human Growth Hormone, aka HGH, is one of the most important hormones in the body has tremendous antioxidant potential, and serves as a neurotransmitter that regulates many-body systems. We call this The Fountain of Youth.

When the sun sets and darkness sets in the brain start producing melatonin which goes out and stimulates the human growth hormone. But if the light hits the eye, a msg is sent to the gland to shut off the production of melatonin and HGH. This is important for protein and fat metabolism and it allows cellular repair to occur while we sleep.

Power vs. Proximity.
Parks with power lines may contribute to kids getting cancer, even though they are pretty far away. Think about an electric blanket, lying right on top of you. The nightstand, right next to your bed a place where you spend 1/3 of your life.

Even when the lamp is off…it creates EMF’s. Push these as far away as possible from the bed. Unplug when not in use. The radiation goes right through the walls. The Wi-Fi goes all around the house.

Dry Cleaning.
It’s not “dry”, your clothes are put into a solution that looks like water but has the characteristics of gasoline and it does remove dirt and grime. But it leaves a toxic residue that is there for days.

They don’t even rinse it out. It off-gases and lingers in the air for days. Lung cancer, leukemia, cervical cancer, lymphomas, and it causes liver and kidney damage.

So, find a green dry cleaner or you can also off gas them by hanging them outside for a few days outside. Don’t put that toxic gas in your bedroom or on your body.

Kitchen.
Our water is one of the most dangerous substances in the kitchen.

The contaminants that we are finding in tap water will surprise you: arsenic, mercury, benzanine, lead, cyanide, radon, PERC (dry cleaning fluid) chloroform, nitrates.

You cannot have healthy cells when you are bathing your cells in toxins. You have to purify the water that you drink and that you cook with.

Find a solution for purifying your water. Bottled water usually just tap water put in a bottle, and then you have the plastic to contend with.

Food.
People think that if they eat unhealthy, they will gain weight. However, much more happens then simply gaining weight.

Many people think that if they exercise, they will not gain weight and can eat what they want.

When you look at a woman’s blood cells through a microscope, they are gracefully moving through the capillaries. Now when this woman eats fast food and we look at the blood cells, they can barely move.

This is more about health, not just about weight.

Plastic.
Tupperware – It is so easy and convenient that you keep stacking them up in the drawer until you have like 100 and they won’t fit anymore.

They get all scratched and worn and the more they are used the more you are exposed to endocrine disruptors, biphenyl A, and xenoestrogens.

These disrupt the hormone balance in the body and increase estrogenic activity. And this contributes to hormone-dependent cancers, like breast and prostate cancer.

Non-Stick Pans.
These things are fairly safe provided you don’t heat them.

When you heat the nonstick surface, what do you think comes off? Fluoride!

Fluoride in any form is a vicious toxic element that we should not expose our cells to, in any manner.

Living Space.
We need to open our windows: the real solution to pollution is dilution. Open the window and let the clean air in.

Why do we insist on using the green stuff and the blue stuff and the purple stuff to clean our homes? These toxic cleaners are harming our bodies.

Heavy Metals.
CFL Light bulbs may be energy-efficient, but it turns out they are not good for the environment. OSHA states that 100 micrograms per cubic meter is the max amount before having to evacuate the room.

They have tested the mercury levels in a room with a broken light bulb at it was off the chart, over 999 micrograms. Even after the vacuum was on for about 15 seconds, it was still off the chart. This is a disaster in our homes and environment.

We don’t want to track in the contaminants that you walk through. Take your shoes off by the door. You won’t believe what you are tracking into your home, grease oil, dog poop, etc…do you have small children or babies crawling around the floor?

The 10-second rule? Who made that up?
