We live in a toxic world and our bodies are exposed to numerous toxins on a daily basis. We drink them in our water, eat them in our food, inhale them in our air, and create them in our bodies through stress and other hormones.
Oftentimes our liver, lymph, digestive system, and kidneys become sluggish in an effort to cleanse our bodies. We weren’t created to live in a toxic world and have had to adapt rather quickly. There is a lot of controversy out there about detox, and this is my list of favorite ways to cleanse and purify……what I do personally! Don’t get hung up about doing everything everyday, just pick and choose, mix it up. Variety in life is key! Except with marriage of course!
* Lemon Water alkalinizes your body, hydrates, stimulates liver for detoxification, pectin fiber helps with weight loss, vitamin c aids immunity.
* Green Smoothies are a great breakfast and provide lasting energy throughout the morning! The one I make is high in protein, omega 3 fatty acids, fiber, low in calories and low in sugar. They are an alkaline food and tastes delicious! Use 8 ounces of water, 1/2 cup ice, 2 scoops of the Chris Powell Bod-e Shake powder, 1 T. Chia Seeds, dash of cinnamon and turmeric, and a huge handful of greens (kale, chard, and spinach comb are my favorite)
* Breathing Exercises stimulate lymphatic drainage, relieve stress (therefore reducing cortisol levels) increase oxygen in blood and improves lungs. increase oxygen in blood, improves lungs, massages organs, and even tones those abs. A series of 10 breaths is recommended. You can do this once a day, twice, or even 3 times (once before every meal). I use the 1-4-2 ratio. It looks like this, inhale through your nose and count how long it takes to fill your lungs. Now hold for 4 times that initial count, which may be hard at first. Then slowly exhale though your mouth for 2 times the initial count. It may be 6-24-12 or 5-20-10 make sense?
So why do we need to stimulate the lymphatic system? What is it exactly? “The lymphatic system is the metabolic garbage can of the body. It rids you of toxins such as dead and cancerous cells, nitrogenous wastes, infectious viruses, heavy metals, and other assorted junk cast off by the cells. The movement performed in rebounding provides the stimulus for a free-flowing system that drains away these potential poisons. Well Being Journal” * Psyllium with Green Powder is something I gag down EVERY morning and occasionally before bed. Let me tell you that I am thankful after my morning coffee when I am consistent with this practice. Colon Cleanse is the brand of psyllium I use. It may also be available in the bulk bins at your local grocery store. It has both soluble and insoluble fiber which aids in reducing cholesterol, keeps colon clean and eliminating toxins. I am telling you, your poop will be so much nicer! Kind of gross, but oh so true!
Barleans greens is also added to this morning cocktail and it contains green food concentrates, superfoods, probiotics, enzymes, herbs, and more! This powder will alkalinize your body, aids in detox and digestion. It also boosts energy and your immune system.
* Oil Pulling is an ancient Aurveydic practice which will clean your mouth from bacteria, whiten teeth and help prevent bad breath. Simply take about a tablespoon of coconut oil and let melt in mouth. Once liquid, swish around moth for 20 minutes. You may want to start with a smaller time to get used to it. But your end goal is 20 minutes. I usually do this while in the shower and putting on makeup in the morning!
* Rebounder also stimulates lymphatic drainage and just jumping for 20 minutes equates an hour of running, so they say!
*VeMMA Cleanse is great for both liver cleansing and digestive health. It is not a laxative, but a healing agent that contains 10 g fiber, milk thistle for liver health, and 12 other powerful herbs. Removes impurities and aids in liver and digestive function. Best off to use this for 7 days in a row, once a month!
So there you have it! 7 various ways you can cleanse and purify your body! How would you like 7 more? Stay tuned for next week’s post!
