Today I am super excited to have our first monthly challenge.
Our first healthy habit hack.
The reason why I am choosing this one is because it is August, and we are in the middle of heat waves, summer time.
Something that I have noticed a lot is people getting dehydrated.
One of my good friends had a massive headache last weekend because she was dehydrated.
One of the things that we are going to talk about today is hydration.
I want you to think about how many glasses of water you had yesterday, how many ounces of water did you have yesterday.
Then, I want you to take your body weight and see if the ounces of water were less than half of your pounds of bodyweight.
If you weigh 200 pounds, you want to have a minimum of a 100 ounces of water.
I usually have about a gallon. That’s how I always feel my best.
Let me tell you my secrets to get in all my water.
I happened to like the taste of water so it’s no big deal to get in my gallon
I am going to show you some tricks and tips so that you can see which one resonates with you the most
First thing in the morning as soon as you get up, your body has not had any water for a long time, and so I get up in the morning, I have 16 ounces of water
Because I live a Keto lifestyle, when there’s about an inch or 2 inches that’s left on the glass, I squeeze a half of lemon and I add a teaspoon of a really good quality sea salt and sometimes it’s pink salt
If you are new to this, I would suggest starting off a half of teaspoon.
When you’re Keto, you need to replace your electrolytes.
And so, if I don’t do it, my workout sucks, I feel weak and I end up getting leg cramps
Then I go to the gym and workout, and my goal during that workout is to drink a whole liter.
And before I go home form the gym, I have already finished that liter of water.
Then what I do is I fill up 2 more liters of water and I bring them to work with me, and I put it on my ice chest
Typically, they are sparkling water because I have one of those really cool soda streams and I pump my water with CO2, and I fill up my water bottle liters
And then my hydro flask, which is my favorite water bottle, I fill that up with more water
Here’s some other ideas incase you don’t love water. You can make infused water.
One of my favorites is orange.
You can use strawberry, mint, basil, watermelon, and lemon.
You are not going to eat the fruit; you’re just going to eat the water.
Another great idea is I regularly make something called passion tea.
You can buy that at Starbucks; just make sure you’ll order the unsweetened.
But you can buy the iced tea bags and the hot tea bags almost anywhere
I have an iced tea maker and I brew the iced tea myself, my husband drinks it too. It’s really good and it has some additional medicinal qualities
Some things that I don’t want to see you do is don’t add flavor enhancers that have aspartame or sucralose.
The sucralose specifically is really bad for gut health and it took me years to realize why it is bad, and aspartame is a really harmful chemical.
I used to love crystal light, but it has aspartame so, I don’t drink anything with sucralose or aspartame
because those 2 ingredients are going to be harmful for your body.
Another hack that you can try with the water is that have this stevia drops that you can get and they have different fruity flavors.
The ones that I prefer are called “stur.”
I like the stevia drop, but they are really sweet so just be careful.
For the sparkling water, I prefer it plain. I don’t like to add any flavor to that
That is your challenge for you healthy habit hack.
Go out and hydrate your body.
CBS recently reported that approximately 75% the Americans do not drink enough water. That means that most people in the U.S are functioning in a chronic state of dehydration. That is not good.
Dehydration leads to so many problems.
If you want to be a high energy girl, you to have a lot of energy and drink your water
So here’s a rule of thumb:
Drink 1 liter by 9:00 AM another by 12:00 PM another by 3:00 PM and another by 6:00 PM.
And then what you do is you set an alarm by your phone, so that at 9:00 your buzzer goes off
Now another tip you can do is take little hairbands and put 4 around your water bottle and every time
you got to refill it, you remove your hairband.
That means you’ve finished 1 liter. After you removed all 4, you are good to go
