Ya gotta love dogs! Ya gotta love walking. The two go hand in hand!
Dogs are ALWAYS happy to see you, they don’t talk back (unlike teenagers) they don’t complain about your cooking (they eat the same dinner every night), they aren’t demanding (just love to be loved and scratched), and they can help you get in shape! They are the perfect companion for a person living alone and have actually been shown to heal sick people because of the love they give so freely and the love they seek.
Walking is one of the best forms of exercise. It is free and you can do it anywhere. It doesn’t require fancy equipment or a gym membership. It is good for the heart and helps create strong bones. However, most people don’t walk because they don’t have anybody to go with, they aren’t motivated, they can’t get their butts off the couch, etc.
The reason dogs and walking go hand in hand, is because dogs love to walk and they need you to take them! When your dog doesn’t get their daily exercise, they can be a little too hyper and drive you nuts. However, when you take them out for their walk, they are all relaxed and sweet! Walking dogs is even a career for some people. So if you don’t want a dog of your own, you can volunteer to walk a friend’s.
So if you want to get in shape, you can always go down to the local shelter and pick up a sweet pooch! Man’s and Woman’s best friend!!!
