Crowding Out Lowers Blood Pressure

HighEnergyGirl - Crowding Out Lowers Blood Pressure
You know those stories of the painter with the peeling house, the auto mechanic with broken down cars in his driveway, the shoe repair guy whose kids have holes in their shoes (not the trendy type)? Well I am the health coach who has a loved one with health issues.

When everything seems to be good on the outside,it doesn’t mean crap, it’s the inside that matters!

Case in point: my athletic hubby was in countdown for his 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He mountain bikes almost every day, eats pretty clean, lifts weights…..you would never think that there were problems brewing on the inside!

At the dentist, of all places, before a tooth extraction, he got diagnosed with High Blood Pressure: 170/105. Of course he thought it was white coat syndrome, until it was the same the next day, and the next day, and the next day.

Everyone told him to go to the doctor, including me, to get on medication. Blood pressure is nothing to mess with. We could wean him off of it later. But, nooo, he is afraid of the doctor, so he came to me for help.

We went away the following weekend and I wrote him out some suggestions, which when we came home he started to follow. It’s all about crowding out the crap!

  1. Green smoothie, made with water, as a snack.
  2. Large salad, with chicken or fish for lunch.
  3. Drink waaay more water.
  4. More veggies at night, to crowd out some carbs.
  5. Add some mangosteen to reduce inflammation.

Well I am happy to report that after just 5 weeks, his blood pressure is down to 142/89, not ideal yet, but getting closer. His favorite part is he has shed 10 unwanted pounds. He feels fuller, has more energy, and now LOVES salad. Who would have thought?

You see, when we add healthy things into our daily meals, there is less room for the garbage, and we start to feel so much better! It’s simply a matter of changing your palate, your habits, and your lifestyle. No quick fixes, just a lasting lifestyle change.

So, which of these 5 ideas will you implement into your daily life?
